Changing Your Pictures Without Changing Your Pixels Using Adjustment Layers
The example picture (below), shot on a cold and overcast day, has several problems. Essentially it is too blue, too dark and doesn't contain enough contrast. When confronted with such an image most of us would immediately apply a couple of image adjustments, such as Levels and Color Balance, to correct the photograph. In the process the pixel values of the file are changed forever. Professionals prefer to apply the same adjustments in a layer form.
